Spring Cleaning
Spring is just around the corner! This winter was harsh for us here in St. Louis, and soon it’ll be time to start complaining about the heat of our summer. These drastic seasonal changes can affect our health and be hard on our bodies. So as we move into the warmer months, it is important – as we do with our homes – for some “Spring Cleaning.”
This is a great time of year to cleanse your body. This sets a foundation so that all the toxins that we are exposed to and that have accumulated in the cold months will not bog us down. The cleansing of the body is also great for our overall appearance. Remember, swimsuit season is soon upon us! When we feel great, we tend to look great; and, when we look great, we feel great. Natural ways of eliminating toxins is a great start to feeling this way, which will stimulate mental clarity as we balance our lives, jobs, and workouts.
Ridding yourself of all the environmental toxins and unnatural things we consume can do wonders for our health. It is important to notice, and even wonder why there are certain foods that grow specific to one season, or even notice the weather’s role on our surroundings. Relating Mother Nature’s purposeful design to our body’s intricate operation will help us realize that our health is not a separate entity, yet it is how we live and transition throughout the year. Although nutrition plays a pivotal role in how we feel, sometimes it takes more to have that overall feeling of optimal health and energy. Unfortunately, as a society, we have become unaware of what is “normal.” We are accustomed to feeling so bad in our health that until you look through a different set of glasses, you may not know what you’ve been missing.
It can be overwhelming with all the products on the market for sources of detoxing. For this reason, at Innovative Health Partners, we help match the perfect detox program specific to you and what is trying to be achieved. There is no “one-size-fits-all,” therefore, it’s important to know how to protect yourself and understand what it truly means to detox.
Each detox program we recommend is designed to rid your body of the junk that collects. Yes, our bodies are created to naturally detox themselves, but nowadays, due to the excess junk we are exposed to, we need a little extra help! The detox products we use are safe, effective, have no unnatural additives, and are excellent for clearing out harmful toxins. It’s amazing how many detox programs I’ve seen out on the market that have additives and chemicals. Remember, our goal is to clean our system of exactly that.
As I said before, understanding the best detox program for you is ideal, and this is something we, at Innovative Health Partners, do on a daily basis. Seeing the changes unfold in our patients as they detox helps create a better foundation for other health goals we are working towards.
Something we can all do to begin this process and promote a healthy detox system is to eat healthier foods that are specific to what we need at this time of the year. Nutrition can be your source of detoxification. Here are a few suggestions that will help start overall body cleansing:
- Green Leafy Foods. These are high in chlorophyll, which helps support your digestive tract and eliminate toxins.
- Citrus Fruits. Helps flush our system and stimulate digestive enzymatic processes.
- Vegetables such as onions, asparagus, cabbage, beets and brussel sprouts. These veggies are full of healthy sulphur, great for liver detoxification
- Omega-3 oils found in avocado, olive oil, flax oil or milled flax seeds.
Become aware of your body, and treat it right. As the old adage goes, “you are what you eat!” By incorporating the tips above, you will begin to see and feel a difference.
